Best Use By Date: Before Last Breath

1.      I am the Lord thy God; thou shalt not have any other gods before me.
Sports figures? Technology? Exercise? Religious ritual?
Lord God, we beg mercy for creating personal deities rather than worshiping you…

2. Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain.
Cursing? Conceited outrage? Prideful boasting?
Lord God, we beg mercy for using your name profanely and in arrogance…

3. Remember and keep holy the Lord‘s Day.
One hour? Of one day? A thankful heart?
Lord God, we beg mercy for ignoring you with true praise, gratitude and rest…

4. Honor thy father and thy mother.
Respect? Gratitude for the gift of life?
Lord God, we beg mercy for failing to cherish parents, mentors and spiritual elders…

5. Thou shall not kill.
Murder by word or deed? In thought? By indifference or complacency?
Lord God, we beg mercy for destroying and wounding by commission and omission…

6. Thou shalt not commit adultery.
Mistresses of addiction? Pornography? Selfish intent?
Lord God, we beg mercy for placing personal gratification above the needs of others…

7. Thou shalt not steal.
Plundering time, energy and resources of others? Defrauding truth?
Lord God, we beg mercy for wasting and abusing the bounty of Earth and all you have created…

8. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.
Softly spoken innuendos? Judgments? White lies of justification?
Lord God, we beg mercy for cavorting with misconception and assumption of all sorts…

9. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s wife.
Eyes or deliberations of lust?
Lord God, we beg mercy for immoral wantonness, in feelings, thoughts, and actions…

10. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s goods.
Jealously? Envy? Cravings for physical, intellectual, emotional attributes of others?
Lord God, we beg mercy for bearing bitterness, resentment and avaricious desires…
