Embracing the Some Days
By Micky Wolf
Some days you feel a lot more like crying than smiling—allow the tears to flow and wash away the pain…it is true, God loves you.
Some days it would be so much easier to yell and curse than speak softly and tenderly—stand in the shower and release your frustration and hurt amidst the cleansing water…it is true, God loves you.
Some days the storm of discontent in your soul is so big and clunky it nearly chokes every breath—take responsibility for sinful behavior and lead the way to reconciliation…it is true, God loves you.
Some days efforts to be productive are about as effective as counting snowflakes in the middle of the desert—humbly acknowledge the smallest act of kindness can bestow the greatest blessing…it is true, God loves you.
Some days minding your own business is as challenging as nailing gnats to a picnic table—choose instead to crucify your thoughts and words as keeping quiet can be a virtue…it is true, God loves you.
Some days criticizing and judging anything and everyone is as easy as brushing your teeth—sometimes biting the tongue is the better way to floss and shine…it is true, God loves you.
Some days taking three helpings of dessert seems good medicine to soothe all your fears and pesky worries—instead savor one and turn to the Beloved for the more fulfilling reward…it is true, God loves you.
Some days you are convinced it would be easier to stay in bed than put feet on the floor—take the first step anyway and follow in the footprints of the Christ…it is true, God loves you.
Are you in the middle of a some day? How does it feel?
God is in all things—will you be found by Him in this moment?
Can you tell the Lord what you need to be at peace with your some day?
