What’s Your Focus?

Scattered gray clouds. An occasional passing of a big, puffy, white one.
Blue sky. Gray Sky. Blank, non-descript sky.
Bright sunshine. Filtered light.
Shirt-sleeve warm. Cooler. Wind-breaker chilly.
Calm. Windy. No rain. A few sprinkles. Sudden downpour. Pea-size hail.
Why the bits and pieces of meteorological accounting?
Life. Life can be a lot like what occurred here one recent day—all the above in a period of hours.
The reality is there are some days when we seem to get bombarded from all directions. It’s not all bad, or all good. It’s simply that things are moving or changing so quickly we have a hard time trying to adjust. Or accept. Or respond in a healthy and loving way.
One of the greatest temptations we face in these kind of circumstances is to try and give everything equal time and attention. Seems like a sensible approach—until we realize such efforts tend to add fuel to our unsettled state rather than provide clear resolve for the next step.
The more we try to focus on everything at the once, the harder it becomes to remain at peace, with ourselves and those we encounter on the journey.
By making the choice to keep our eyes on the One we know as the steady and steadfast foundation of Love and Truth, calm prevails, hearts settle, and our attitudes and behaviors reflect kindness and compassion.
Not everything requires attention. Nor for that matter, time, thoughts, or energy. Discerning the difference can make the difference.
